Supervision Philosophy
Transitioning from a post-graduate to a fully licensed clinician is a monumental journey, and it shouldn’t be traveled alone. At Defy Limits Counseling, I view supervision as much more than a clinical requirement—it is a mentorship rooted in the joy of passing on the craft. My approach goes beyond the "what" of your caseload to explore the "why" of your practice. While staffing cases is a necessary component, our work together focuses on the systemic and practical realities of being a therapist today.
Our work together explores the essential pillars of the profession:
Clinical & Ethical Excellence: Precision in diagnosing and navigating the complex "gray areas" of modern ethics.
Practice Management: Mastering the logistics of the "business of healing," including scheduling, payments, insurance, and client retention.
Advocacy & Awareness: Examining the intersection of social justice and mental health to empower you to advocate for systemic change while remaining aware of how cultural and political climates shape the client experience.
Integrative Growth: Synthesizing diverse therapeutic frameworks to develop your unique clinical philosophy and authentic professional voice.
Beyond these pillars, we prioritize the longevity of your career by focusing on burnout prevention and clinician safety. We hold dedicated space for the heavy lifting of the profession: crisis management and the continuous work of identifying and unpacking personal biases. These foundations ensure you develop into a confident, well-rounded clinician ready to lead the future of mental health.
